Writing music takes some very serious talent. It is an art of poetry that not many people can do so well.  The best songs, in my mind, are those that have the lyrics that cause you to think about serious issues and emotions.  When a song has lyrics that bring you to tears or smiling, or anything like that, then there is an artistic element that was included in the writing process.  You know at that point that the song was written for a purpose other than to become a number one hit.  It was written for meaning and love of art and music.  So many lyricists and writers today just want to create something that will reach the top of the charts, when really the art and meaning behind the words should be considered.  Here are some of the most poetic lyrics to songs and some background behind the words, the authors, and artists. Kate Bush Returns

Kate Bush has a new album coming out, though the contents may be familiar to long time fans. The legendary English songbird – who has thus-far recorded a total of eight studio albums in her three-decade career – is set to release Director’s Cut, an album of re-recordings from her back catalog.

The source material for Director’s Cut is drawn from two of her later studio albums, The Sensual World (1989) and The Red Shoes (1993). Many of the songs from those albums were conceived with a vision that the artist apparently felt had been compromised with their original recordings. (more…)
